Waterfront Landing ~ Lake Guntersville

           Well! Well! Well! What do have we here? Guntersville. Alabama's most famed and largest lake. Known for producing mega strings of bass for tournament and recreational anglers alike, this body of water has produced year after year with no let up in site. With that said, the boys of Goldenrod took their talents to the shores of Big G in search of not one, not two, not three, not four, but five of the best bass they could weigh in. The event included two days of the warmest and stickiest starts to summer in recent memory. 

The key to fishing Guntersville is understanding GRASS and how to fish that GRASS! Top contenders quickly dissected productive grass establishing a unique pattern that would dominate the event. Day one leader Anthony Mostella took control with a 5 fish limit weighing 12.2 pounds. The Anniston Alabama pro's 5 ounce lead over Gardendale's Ronald Douglas kept things interesting as the scales closed. Douglas would post a 5 fish limit weighing 11.13 pounds including a Big Fish of 4.01.

​            Day two kicked off with a slightly better forecast. Clouds with patchy fog gave anglers that extra bit of low light conditions. The bass were primed and ready as were Goldenrod's best. GRASS! GRASS! and GRASS! Bluegill beds and eel grass were most productive grass as reported by the top finishers. Lures and presentations ranged from moving baits, creature, and stick baits were the weapons of choice to coax bites.

Anniston pro Anthony Mostella day two 5 fish limit weighing 13.11 pounds secure his impressive wire to wire win. Mostella finished with 25.13 pounds. Gardendale's Ronald Douglas was second with 23.12. Trussville's Eddie L. Hill was 3rd with 21.03 pounds. Birmingham pro Darryl Witherspoon took home Event Big Fish with 4.05 pounds.
