          The Goldenrod Bassmasters Tournament Trail on Smith Lake commenced with a skewed field set to do battle at the season opener.  With more than half of the competitors out, the competition remained intense.

          It didn't take long for guys to figure out what the bass were doing. Leading the way was Birmingham pro and multi-time  AOY champion Richard Johnson with 9.02 pounds

Second place honors went to Ashland pro Anthony Mostella with 7.00. Mostella also took home big fish honors(2.02)
