The first of two days of the Goldenrod Bassmasters Tournament Trail on Smith Lake was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. The Saturday event has been rescheduled for April 12, 2025. Sunday's event kicked off with cooler temps and cloudy skies.

When you think of Smith Lake this time of the year its in full pre spawn mode with fish on the move. Guys quickly found clear waters were stained at the mouth to muddy in back of creeks. Finding a concentration of bass was almost impossible given the fluctuating weather conditions.

It didn't take long for most guys to figure out what the bass were doing. Leading the way was Birmingham Pro Darryl Witherspoon with

10.08. Witherspoon's was able to make long cast up shallow and coax the spotted bass into biting his Shakey head. Second place honors went to Jackie Price. The Pinson Alabama pro brought a five fish limit to the scales weighing 8.14. In third place was Gardendale pro Ronald Douglas with 7.15

Steven Turner took home Big Fish honors with 3.11.
